24.5 cm. Olive gray-brown above. Throat streaked black on white background. Breast brownish turning into light rufous on belly and crissum. <NThe female is somewhat paler than the male. <NJuveniles are grayish-brown above, somewhat spotted. Throat white with brown spots. Breast brownish, heavily spotted darker. Belly light orange with black spots. Bill pale olive-yellow. Yellow eye ring. A variety of surprisingly different calls | a low sounding "wje" vocalization 1 or"we vocalization 3 and 4 , a rising slurred "dui-ip" vocalization 6 , a miauing "wi-ui" vocalization 5 , a "dji dji dui" vocalization 4 . Alarm note is a high "tsri . Song delivered mostly early in the morning and late afternoon from a hidden location in the top of a tree is loud and melodic with repeated strophes which are characteristic for one particular individual vocalization 2 .
