Description
18 cm. A small ruddy thrush with light underparts. Upper parts rufous brown. Below whitish. Whitish buff with indistinctly dark spots on the throat and chest. Narrow white eyering.

Voice
Call a nasal 'veiii-veii....' The distinctive nasal song seems to be not or only rarely given in the winter quarters.
Behavior
Frequents the lower strata of forest, border and scrub.

North America.
Habitat and status
Uncommon winter visitor. Occurs in the months of the northern winter in forests of the interior (119).
