26 cm. Brownish-gray above becoming rufous on rump. Broad white superciliary widest behind the eye: black eyestripe. Wings dusky brown with two whitish wing bars. Tail dusky with a white end, especially the tips of the tail. Underside grayish white. <NJuveniles dusky brown appearance. Calls are harsh notes, like "charrr vocalization 1 , song consists of many different relatively simple strophes repeated several times vocalization 2 . Song is delivered from a perch, but sometimes in a short song flight. Forages mostly on the ground. Often relatively tame. Breeds September-January. Common in open, degraded areas, suburbs, gardens, parks. Avoids dense forest. Throughout Southeast Brazil, from sea level to 1800 meters 16185 Call. Serra da Canastra, 11<10>9<10>98.
