15.5 cm. Upper side rufous brown with crown and nape more grayish. Wings not banded. Superciliary stripe white. Ear covers striped white on black background. Malar stripe black. Neck sides and throat white. Sides of chest light grayish brown. Sides of belly light buff brown. Tail with black bands. Strophes consist of several single notes that are repeated several times vocalization 1 and 2 . Call jeeyr" is sometimes incorporated into the song ^133 . A skulker low in dense vegetation. Quite common in dense vegetation of swamps or bamboo thickets at borders of forests and woodland, not in the rainforest itself. Old records are from<8E>Rio Muriae<8E>and<8E>Olalla<8E>in Estado Rio de Janeiro ^40 .
