Male has steel blue upperparts, grey throat and breast and a white abdomen: <NThe female is less glossy above, white below with a brown forehead.<NThe juvenile looks like /Procne tapera without a chest band. The calls heard in th vocalizations 1 -4 are similar to those of the Purple Martin, vocalization 5 features "cheur calls ^138 which are presumably contact calls. Flies at medium heights for insects usually in groups. Occasionally forages on the ground. Breeds from September to December in cavities, under the eaves of roofs, in bird houses, etc. Open grassland, fields, forest edge, clearings.
