14 cm. Sexes alike. Cinnamon-rufous above, darker on the crown, with gray and buffy lores and superciliary stripe up to the eye. Behind the eye a gray stripe begins which encircles the nape. Primaries dusky-brown and primary coverts dark brown. Below buff-rufous with the throat lighter. Song is a "tii tii tiew tiew tiew". Forages in the middle and upper stratum of trees. Gleans foliage. All Becards have globular nests usually placed in a fork of a tree ^44 . Common in humid primary and mature secondary forest and edge. Throughout. Cited from the Serra do Mar, Serra Mantiqueira, and<8E>Serra dos Org<C4>os ^15 . Also at<8E>Fazenda Intervales<8E>and <8E>PE Jacupiranga<8E>. Sea level to 1200 meters. 4173 Song.
