Fork-tailed Flycatcher

14 cm ; 13 cm tail. Very long and deeply forked tail. Head and sides of head black with a yellow semi-concealed crown patch. Wings and tail black, the outer webs white. Back pale grayish. Below white. <NThe immature lacks the elongated tail feathers and has a coffee-brownish cap. Call is a sequence of "tic" notes. Perching low on bushes and fences this species performs aerial hawks and is also frugivorous. Large flocks gather at roosting sites during migration. A locally common tyrant flycatcher in open regions such as pastures and bushy areas. When migrating occurs also in towns, cities, gardens and in wooded areas.
