The common call is a loud and repeated whistle | "tatatatatota-CHEW" with emphasis on the last syllable or a "tetetetetePIU" increasing in pitch and loudness. Other calls are a "tchewe tchewe wewewewewi", increasing in pitch and loudness, and similar calls.
Perches inconspicuously in the middle and upper canopy of large trees. An outward-hover-gleaner and fruit eater. Sits on the same branch often for a long time without moving.
Rare in primary and mature secondary humid forest and sandy woodland. Does not seem to favor forest edge.
