16 cm. Rufous above. Wings rufous with black tips to the primaries. Lighter rufous breast and throat. Belly yellow. Utters occasionally a jay-like weink...weink...weink . Perches in the middle and lower stratum of trees. An outward-hover-gleaner ^74 . Remarkably quiet and easily overlooked. Regularly observed in gallery woodland and deciduous wood lots, cerrad<C4>o, and dense scrub. A mostly extralimital inland species occurring near<8E>Rio Claro, S<C4>o Paulo State, but possibly occurs closer to the coast in suitable habitat. Lower than 1500 meters ^44 . 7221 Call.
