Description
16 cm. Rufous above. Wings rufous with black tips to the primaries. Lighter rufous breast and throat. Belly yellow.

Voice
Utters occasionally a jay-like "weink...weink...weink".
Behavior
Perches in the middle and lower stratum of trees. An outward-hover-gleaner (74). Remarkably quiet and easily overlooked.
Habitat and status
Regularly observed in gallery woodland and deciduous wood lots, cerradão, and dense scrub.
Distribution
A mostly extralimital inland species occurring near Rio Claro, São Paulo State, but possibly occurs closer to the coast in suitable habitat. Lower than 1500 meters (44).
