15 cm. Above olive-green, grayer on the crown, a bright yellow superciliary stripe and black cheeks. Wings black with two grayish bars. Below bright yellow, the sides of the breast olive. Tail black. <NThe female is somewhat duller with olive mottling on the breast. Usually silent. Sits on top of trees and bushes quite in the open, not shy. According to Ridgely ^44 makes short sallies into foliage, less often aerial hawks. Makes an open cup nest ^44 . Regularly encountered in open bushy country with some trees, forest edge or in restinga. Throughout, Serra do Mar, Serra Mantiqueira, Serra dos Org<C4>os Forrester , Fazenda Intervales<8E>. Mostly below 2000 meters ^76 . 10640 >:
