20 cm. The male is mostly white with black wings and tail. The distal third of primaries is white appearing as a white patch in the wing not particularly conspicuous in the sketch of the flying bird . <NFemale, with a light grayish-brown crown and back, is otherwise like the male. <NImmature has a rusty back ^30 . Silent ^30 . Perches on a low bush etc., hovers and feeds by perch to ground sallies. Extralimital. Occurs in boggy open areas with sedges and burned areas. To be expected to show up from time to time in southern S<C4>o Paulo State. Rio Grande do Sul, Parana, reported from Parana not far from the border with S<C4>o Paulo state, Castro, Curitiba, Murungaba, Jaguaria<CE>va ^40 . 6971 >. Male: 8377 >. Female:
