13 cm. Lower mandible yellow. Above gray-olive, lores lighter. Wings and tail dark gray with two paler wing bars. White throat. Breast and sides of the belly olive-gray. The center of upper belly and the whole lower belly are a lighter yellowish-white. Call a high "pii-piiep" or "piip". Song a repeated, fast "tsibew", the first syllable emphasized and the last syllable lower than the first. An aerial hawker of the forest canopy which makes sallies from exposed perches. Nests of the genus /Contopus are cup nests typically "saddled" on a limb ^106 . Uncommon to fairly common in the canopy of primary and secondary humid forest and forest borders. Throughout.
