Song is a "zirr wi zirr wi pi di", frequently repeated. Call "dleea" ^30 . Often betrays its presence by bill snapping.
On or near the ground of humid forest. Walks fast on the ground like a water thrush and forages by upward striking. Not in mixed flocks.

Surprisingly the species is present in humid secondary forest at the<8E>Reserva Ecol<D4>gica Guapiac<DB><8E>in the foothills of the Serra das Org<C4>os northeast of Rio de Janeiro and well worth a visit. Mentioned for<8E>Serra dos Org<C4>os<8E>by Forrester. Up to 1000 meters Ibitipoca, Minas Gerais .
