9 cm. Iris pale yellow, Black forehead and face turning grayish on the back of the head. Back, rump and tail black. Wings black with two yellow wing bars and yellow margins to the flight feathers. Below bright yellow. Cocked up tail. A high short trill, like "trrrrri" several times repeated. Forages low up to 4 meters in scrubby woodland. Usually in pairs and quite conspicuous. In display hitches along branches ^44 . In light forest, high scrub and forest borders. Almost extralimital. Northern Rio de Janeiro State, Lagoa Feia, Rio Muriae, accidental in the<8E>Serra dos Org<C4>os<8E>. Northern S<C4>o Paulo state, Franca, Silvania ^40 .
