10 cm. Iris whitish. Grayish crown with white lores and eye ring. Above olive-brown, the wings darker with two buffy bars. Below whitish with grayish streaks on the throat and chest. Tail dark. Calls are a variety of "tik" sounds and a descending and repeated "tik tuk tu tuk tuk". Song is "tik tik tiurrrrr". Forages in the medium stratum of forest and scrub employing upward strikes to catch prey. Nest a suspended pouch with a side entrance ^112 . An inconspicuous tody-tyrant of the arid interior. Relatively common in dry open forest and scrub. Also in gallery woodland. Extralimital in the interior of S<C4>o Paulo State, mostly in the north <8E>S<C4>o Jeronimo, Itapura, Maca<DB>bas, Lins .
