Hangnest Tody-Tyrant

9 cm. Has a characteristic jizz due to its short tail. Above olive-green. Wings and tail dusky, the flight and tail feathers edged yellow. Below white, indistinctly streaked olive on the chest. No prominent eye ring. The very typical vocalization gives the presence of the bird away. High, clear and fast "dididi didu didu" and variations thereof. In the low and middle stratum of bushy, open forest foraging by using upward strikes. Does not follow mixed bird parties. Nest is a hanging pocket with side entrance. An endemic little short tailed tyrannid of open forest, forest borders and scrub. Fairly common at sea level in bushy disturbed forest bordering open areas and low scrub. Typical for open restinga behind dunes at the shore. Not inside of dense rain forest. From<8E>Ilha do Cardoso, Iguape, along the coast to<8E>Rio de Janeiro<8E>.
