A black area below the eye and a black crescent on the ear coverts separated from the olive-green neck by a white crescent. Wings dusky-black with olive-yellow margins to the primaries and two indistinct wing bars. White throat streaked blackish Below yellow streaked olive on the breast. Tail dusky-black. A clear trill often followed or preceded by single "tik....tik..." notes. Forages in middle stratum of dense woodland borders by performing upward strikes. Relatively easy to observe.
