10 cm. Face patch black. Olive above. A slight crest with a semi-concealed yellow spot on the crown. Darker olive spots on the back. Wings black with two white wing bars and edging. Below bright yellow. Warning is call "shat" ^30 . Call is a high "tsick". Song is a squeaky "fit fit beetsi beetsi" ^30 . Some vocalizations are on ^38. Nests of this genus are cup-shaped ^86 . A very rare locally occurring tyrannid of marshes. Look for this species in shrubby marshland with reeds and sedges ^44 . Reported from the Reserva Biol<D4>gica da Barra in<8E>Rio de Janeiro ^15 . May occur at other locations with suitable habitats. Pinto ^40 reports the species from the<8E>Lagoa Feia<8E>in Northern Estado Rio de Janeiro. 5412 >:
