The account
Description
14 cm. A medium sized short-billed flycatcher of dry open woods, its color distribution resembles some Myiarchus flycatchers.
Bill black, very short. White above and around the eye. Above olive-brown. Blackish wings with two buff-brown wing bars and margins to the primaries. Throat and breast light gray. Belly pale sulphur-yellow. Blackish tail.

Voice
Calls a repeated 'psie-de', 'psiii' or 'psiu'.
Behavior
Mostly outward-hover gleans from exposed perches within subcanopy (74).
Habitat and status
Uncommon in open woodland and scrub in the arid interior. Quiet and inconspicuous.
Distribution
Extralimital. Pinto reports the species from Franca (Estado São Paulo), but it may occur closer to the coast in suitable habitats.
