14 cm. A medium sized short-billed flycatcher of dry open woods, its color distribution resembles some Myiarchus flycatchers. <NBill black, very short. White above and around the eye. Above olive-brown. Blackish wings with two buff-brown wing bars and margins to the primaries. Throat and breast light gray. Belly pale sulphur-yellow. Blackish tail. Calls a repeated "psie-de", "psiii" or "psiu". Mostly outward-hover gleans from exposed perches within subcanopy ^74 . Uncommon in open woodland and scrub in the arid interior. Quiet and inconspicuous. Extralimital. Pinto reports the species from<8E>Franca Estado S<C4>o Paulo , but it may occur closer to the coast in suitable habitats. 6306 Call. Cornell Cat 19306.
