16 cm. Mandible pale. Crown black. Back and wings olive-green. Below bright yellow with variable black cross-banding Call is a high "ziiiiii-it.... ziiiiiii... it", the second syllable somewhat higher in pitch. Forages in the canopy of tall and medium-height trees for fruits. Quite inconspicuous and hard to see. Rare in primary and mature secondary humid forest. Throughout, in Rio de Janeiro state in the<8E>Serra dos Org<C4>os, Reserva Ecol<D4>gica Guapiac<DB> Kirwan , Corcovado, Nova Friburgo, ^44 , Serra Mantiqueira, Serra do Mar near S<C4>o Sebasti<C4>o Paulo Boute, ^40 , Fazenda Intervales, Ipanema ^40 and further north in S<C4>o Paulo state.
