5.1 Rather long billed and long tailed. Iris whitish. <NMale is gray above with small white dots becoming rust brown on the lower back with dark vermiculations. Wings rufous-brown, the secondaries and tertials with white tips and a penultimate black dot, the wing coverts with white tips. Throat and chest whitish. Buff on sides. Underparts barred dark, with black dots on the chest. Tail blackish, the sides buff, and a white terminal bar.<N The female is brown where the male is gray. A series of @to-to-to-to-to@ notes on an even pitch, about two "to"s per second lasting for 15-20 seconds. Almost exclusively close to the ground 2 -3 meters in dense forest undergrowth with bamboo.
