11 cm. Male has a black crown, eystripe and postocular arc and a bright white superciliary stripe. Above grayish-olive. Wings black with white wing-bars, the primaries and secondaries with rufous-brown edges forming a patch. Below pale yellow. Tail black, terminally white tipped. <NFemale has a rufous-chestnut crown and an olive back. Song a series of pips "pip pip pip pip pipipipi.." , at the end falling in pitch. Calls "chip chip chip..... chip chip chip..", "chichichichichi...." or "pipip....pipip" on the same pitch. The common long-tailed antwren of the forest canopy.
