Although very similar they are differentiable in the males by the color of the belly which is more grayish in this species. <NIn the females by the color of the mantle which is olive-brown in this species. Quivers its tail when calling. In scrub and woodland borders, caatinga, secondary forests. T. ambiguus is found from coastal Estado de Rio de Janeiro north to eastern Bahia.
