Narrow-billed Woodcreeper

20 cm. Bill rather long, decurved, pinkish yellow. Crown and nape blackish with white superciliary stripe. Ear coverts blackish. Back, wings and tail bright rusty. Throat white. Below whitish buff with grey streaking. Single notes sounding like "pshirrr" or "tshirrr". Song a descending whistle "piu piu piu pee pee pee peepeededede". Consult also ^101. Scaling trees, often low in scrubs and thickets. Breeds in tree holes, occasionally in buildings ^30 . Relatively common. Occurs in gallery forest: open forest: open country with a few trees: not found in dense forests Throughout, although more common away from the coast.
