5.9 Bill rather short. Crown and back gray-olive-brown, rump ochraceous. Broad superciliary ochraceous, brown streak along upper ear coverts. Wings orange-brown. Below ochraceous-buff with the throat slightly lighter and the belly darker. Tail orange-brown. <NJuvenile plumage is similar, but slightly dark cross-barred below. A series of "zick"s on the same pitch, e.g. "zick zick zick zick zick". Low and middle stratum of forest and border, foraging on limbs, trunks and larger twigs of trees. Fairly regularly seen low in dense primary and secondary rain forest. Regularly seen in the Serra do Mar and around<8E>Rio de Janeiro<8E>.
