Rufous-fronted Thornbird

15.5-16.5 cm. Above brownish-olive, forehead rufous, pale superciliary and lores. Below buffy white, flanks with brown tinge. Song a loud sequence of "chit" | " chit chit chit chit chit chit chit . . . ." starting slowly, accelerating and descending in pitch: both members of a pair sing in sequence. Forages in pairs or small groups in bushes and small trees, also foraging on or close to the ground. Builds large stick nests attached to forks near the tips of branches. October - December. Common in semiopen and lightly wooded areas, woodland borders, gallery forests, parks. Northern Estado S<C4>o Paulo and Minas Gerais. Has appeared north of Rio de Janeiro in the<8E>Reserva Ecol<D4>gica Guapiac<DB> Remold, October 10, 2001 . Expands into deforested areas.
