16 cm. Above olive-brown. Blackish-brown forehead. No distinct superciliary stripe. Sides of head olive-brown. Crown and wings red rufous-brown. Below light mouse grey. Gular patch black. Flanks ochraceous-brown with a whitish center of belly. Tail rufous-brown. A repeated liquid "di-pli" or, as Ridgely and Tudor ^44 describe it, a "ka week", often repeated many times. Can also be heard on ^113. Skulking low in bushes and thickets, sometimes difficult to see. Extralimital. Moderately common in scrub, gallery forest, open savanna and fields with bushes. Occurs in the interior of S.E. Brazil in the interior of the Estado do S<C4>o Paulo and Minas Gerais, Goias etc. Might occur in suitable habitat closer to the shore. 6360 Call.
