5.9 Crown gray-brown, contrasting with the rufous-brown back. Black gular spot and eye stripe. Superciliary stripe white. Whitish below, light buff on chest, flanks ochraceous. Wings and tail rufous. A faint whistle | "weeist. . . weeis . . . . weeist . . . weeis . . . weeist . . . weeis" on an upward glissando, i. e., the pitch at the end is higher than at the beginning. Often repeated many times. Can also be heard on ^113. Moving about in scrub and brush not far from the ground, usually in pairs. Uncommon, in brush and undergrowth of dense or open dry forest and woodland patches. Occurs inland in Est. S<C4>o Paulo and Minas Gerais ^30 . Of possible occurrence in our area. 5212 Call.
