Blue-bellied Parrot

28 cm. The long tail is distinctive. Green all over with the exception of a blue patch on the under-belly. Bluish green in flight and tail feathers. Bill and periocular region whitish. <NFemale and immatures lack the blue on the belly. Flight calls relatively high pitched "tli tli tli tlii", "crikio" ^119 , song distinctive, thrush like whistled phrases, sung mornings and evenings vocalization 2 and 3 . Forages in fruit trees in primary or secondary dense rain forest. Nests in a hollow of a large tree. August-February. Rare in lower montane and subtropical humid rainforest. In Estado Rio de Janeiro found at<8E>Nova Friburgo 1900 , Desengano State Park 1986 , Macae 1957 , Serra de Tingua 1981 ^122 . In Estado S<C4>o Paulo found at<8E>Sete Barras, Cananeia, Guaratuba, S<C4>o Sebastiao, Fazenda Intervales ^119 , PE Jacupiranga Remold and Ramos Neto, unpubl. data . 300-900 meters.
