38-43 cm. Body dull green. Crown variably yellow. Large white bare area around eye. Neck green, the feathers edged dark. The wings have a red carpal edge, a red speculum, and blue tips to the primaries and secondaries. Tail green with a broad yellow terminal area. Calls "ca, caja", and high pitched yodeling. Forages in canopy of trees in pairs and groups. Nest in a hole of a tree. November-February. Locally uncommon in lowland rainforest. Occurring from coastal Estado S<C4>o Paulo northwards through Estado Rio de Janeiro ^124 . In Estado S<C4>o Paulo found at<8E>Ilhabela, S<C4>o Sebasti<C4>o. Below 600 meters 7975 Calls.
