31 cm. A yellow area from the base of bill to below the eye and a yellow forecrown. A distinct blue stripe between the eye and the bill visible from far away. The rest of head is blue-green. Body green. Wrist edged yellow. Orange red speculum. Tail green, tipped yellowish, the lateral feathers tinged orange red with central dark green bar, and the outermost tail feathers edged blue. Call a relatively high pitched "kwi". "kiukwi kiukwi.., kiki-e", etc. Forages in the canopy of trees in pairs, singles or flocks. Rare in dry inland forests and borders.
