30 cm. Larger than other Conures. Crown and nape black with buff spots. Lores and ear coverts orange red, more distal yellowish. Lower cheeks, belly, and wing coverts green. Chest and primaries blue. A vine-red patch in center of belly. Tail yellowish olive above, brownish red below. Rump and bend of wing red. Calls high pitched rapid chattering " week week week weekweekweek", less grating than calls of other Conures. Forages in small flocks in canopy of trees, never outside of forest. September-December. Almost extralimital. Occurs in humid rainforest and forest edge. Found at<8E>Desengano State Park ^2 . 400-900 meters Numbers have dramatically declined due to deforestation, now only found in a few reserves. Vulnerable ^125 . 1913 Calls, T. A.
