32-35 cm. Green with some red spots on the head and neck. Bare orbital ring grayish white. Bend of the wing and wing edge and outermost greater underwing coverts red. Outermost greater wing coverts yellow. Underside of tail, primaries and secondaries olive green. <NThe immature lacks the red in the wing. calls sequences of short "ca ca ca ca...." calls and higher screeching calls "cirri". Forages at all heights of trees and higher bushes in groups or single. October-November Common in savannah country, caatinga, gardens, parks, eucalyptus groves, scrub and gallery forest. Mostly away from the coast, rare in the littoral. Found in the<8E>Serra Mantiqueira<8E>and <8E>Serra dos Org<C4>os<8E>.
