The account

Description

33 cm. Head, neck and underparts vinous gray. Back mostly gray. Wings brown, the wing coverts spotted, and the greater coverts edged white. Tail gray with a black terminal band. Bill black. Legs red.

Hoarse 'wooooo hoohoohooo hoohoohooo hoohoohoooo'.

Behavior

Feeds on the ground on seeds etc. Perches in trees.

Breeding

October, probably all year round.

Habitat and status

A straggler, may be found in flocks with Columba picazuro. Occurs in arid open country with trees and scrub, gardens, eucalyptus groves and other cultivated areas.

Distribution

A possible straggler from the Southwest. To 4200 meters in Bolivia.
